Do you have carpet in your sewing room?  Do you have a hard time picking the threads off the carpet?  Does thread get wrapped around the roller head of your vacuum cleaner and you have to cut it off with a scissors?  Well, watch today's tip for an easy way to remove thread from your carpet and save yourself the trouble of a vacuum roller brush wrapped up with thread.

Bohin Machine Needle Threader

This video shows how to use the Bohin Machine Needle Threader.   If you don't have an automatic needle threader on your sewing machine or it doesn't work very well, this is a great alternative.  It works on any brand or model of sewing machine.  I've seen it used on a Singer featherweight and it works very well.  I also used it on my longarm sewing machine today just to try it out - it worked great on that too.  I hope you enjoy this video.  You can purchase this item on my website.  Bohin Machine Needle Threader

What I have been up to lately . . .

During October, November and Early December, I was working very hard longarm quilting for my customers that needed quilts completed by Christmas.  I then concentrated on getting the house ready for Christmas day company, wrapping presents, and getting my daughter, Allison, ready for her trip to London - she left the day after Christmas.  The MH Highschool band is performing in the London New Years day Parade.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  I will wish you a Happy New Year while I am at it.
I will be back to longarm quilting for my customers,  but I felt like I needed a little sewing time -
So after Christmas I got back to working on a quilt I am designing for Quilts of Valor.  Please enjoy the document I have put together showing part of the process.

Here are pictures of some of the quilts I have completed for my clients.

Here are some photos of my tree peonies this year.
Aren't they magnificent?  The lighter pink one was my mother's plant, which I had transplanted to my yard before we sold her house.  The darker pink one had 64 flowers this year! Unbelievable!

Tips for Cutting Tumbler Blocks from 5" squares
I recently got in a line from Moda called flow – I just loved the colors – I wanted to do something different, but easy, so I trimmed the charm squares into tumblers – it doesn’t take very long – you can do 4-5 squares at a time  – You can get a special template from Missouri Star Quilts – but I just used a Dresden plate ruler I had to cut the left and right sides of my squares to make The tumbler shape  you can even just use a straight ruler  by using the lines on your cutting mat as a reference point to cut them. It doesn't matter what angle you cut the tumblers, you just need to cut them all the same.

BATIK INVENTORY REDUCTION SALE
Regular Width Batiks * $7.50 or less per yard.
Wide Width Batiks * $17.00 or less per yard.

To make the most of shipping costs I can fit up to 10 yards of batik fabric in a flat rate envelope which costs $7 to ship in the US.  So if you purchase 10 yards, shipping adds 70 Cents per yard versus $2.33 per yard if you only purchased 3 yards.

HAPPY QUILTING EVERYONE !!

I taught a class at the Lodi Valley Quilt Guild's Quilt Academy called Charmingly Wonderful Ideas for 5" Squares last weekend.

If you ever get a chance to attend this event, I highly recommend you try it out.  It was a blast!

As a part of this class I designed some new patterns with the help of my sister, The Piecing Patty.
Check out our patterns on my website and watch for some more new ones soon!

I have made some kits for some of my new patterns.  Some are precut, all you have to do is sew
together.

Here is a picture of one of my new designs.

I call it Streaming Diamonds.  I think it looks like streamers at a birthday party.

Yesterday We Had Our Hands All Around Quilt Guild Meeting . . .

I was one of the hostesses at our November Quilt Guild Meeting.  I brought one of my family's favorite desserts.
Pistachio Torte.  Several ladies asked for the recipe, so here it is.

Picture
Pistachio Torte
1 1/2 Sticks Butter
1 1/2 Cups Flour
   3/4 Cup Chopped Pecans
Mix together and press into a 9 x 13 cake pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.  The crust should be brown along the edges.
Cool well.
Mix 8 oz Cream Cheese
       1 Cup Powdered Sugar
       1 Cup Cool Whip
and spread onto cooled crust.
Beat 2 packages of instant Pistachio pudding mix with
3 Cups milk for 2 minutes and pour over the cream cheese layer.
Refrigerate for 5 minutes.
Spread Cool Whip over the top and sprinkle with chopped pecans.

I know some of you ladies said you could not watch a facebook video I posted about how to use pool noodles and wood dowels to sandwich your quilts.  Well here is another video I found that uses the same principle, using 1 x 3 boards instead of the pool noodles.
Check it out.

What My Clients Are Saying

All I can say is "marvelous" service. Looking for rolls of Soft Fuse, finally found some at Jeanne's, even at less costs than anyone else. I called her early one morning to find out if they were in stock, they were, I ordered online immediately and she shipped that same day. Had my product in a couple days.
Thanks again for the excellent service.

She was absolutely great! Kept me informed & shipped the Pellon to me as quickly as possible. Will not hesitate to order from her again.

"Fast service! Love my fabric!"
